Maybe you’re asking youself when it all started with “Parlami d’amore Mariu’. It was written in 1932, and it was included in the movie “Gli uomini che Mascalzoni”, where it was performed by the great italian actor Vittorio De Sica.
The movie was about a young driver who loose his job because he falls in love with a girl (Mariuccia). It was part of a trilogy, with Il conte Max and Grandi Magazzini.
I have only a short cut, but I’d like to share it with you:
GLI UOMINI CHE MASCALZONI
The man who wrote my song is known as the inventor of the italian song, and his name is Cesare Andrea Bixio. He wrote many other popular italian song, which have been sung all over the world for decades. I can mention “Mamma”, “Vivere”, “Violino tzigano”, “Portami tante rose”…Maybe there’s someone who has at least one of this songs in his iPod. I’d be very pleased to meet him!
One of Bixio’s masterpieces, “La canzone dell’amore”, was the soundtrack of the first italian spoken movie. I’ve no information about it and I’d like to learn more. Maybe there’s someone who can help me…
